Product Spotlight - Important Items For Honoring Memorial Day

Introduction

While some people might see Memorial Day as part of a long weekend and a day for enjoying warm weather, we should also reflect on its real purpose: to honor those brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. So, look into memorabilia, patriotic decorations and other important items for honoring Memorial Day and our country's fallen heroes.

Momentos For Loved Ones And Vets

One of the nicest things a person can do for Memorial Day is to give a keepsake item to a fallen soldier's family or to a vet who's lost comrades. They'll be touched to receive photo mementos, including pillowcases, mugs, and refrigerator magnets. Give them an engraved ring with the deceased serviceman's name and military branch. Some family members keep a wooden memory box with pictures and other tokens. For veterans, a military challenge coin recognizes their service as well as those who never came back home. Family members should consider preserving their loved one's memorial flag with a display case, such as Bey-Berk's cherry wood finish display case.

Patriotic And Military Decorations

People can post US garden flags and veterans and military families can post military branch flags. Windchimes engraved with a fallen service member's name can be hung on a tree or post outside. Certain families might paint garden stones to honor their deceased loved ones.

For indoor decorations, red, white and blue-colored wreaths and military branch banners should liven the house. You might decorate the walls with a framed picture of a fallen soldier or prints and paintings with a "Remember The Fallen" or "Some Gave All" theme. Keep books and documentary movies on military history easily on display. You can use patriotic-themed pens and notepads and a crystal paperweight engraved with a fallen service member's name on your home or office desk.

Memorial Day Activities

If your neighborhood is having a Memorial Day barbecue, it's the perfect opportunity to wear a patriotic apron and bring a red, white and blue cooler. Attend a Memorial Day parade and other related community events. Consider making a donation to veteran organizations or charities that help military families that lost a loved one. Drop off a food basket or snack bag at a VA hospital for the patients and workers. When doing these activities, you might wear a flag lapel pin and a Memorial Day-related t-shirt, including this one from VetTailor.
